Impact of event/topic during the Civil Rights Era:
America in the 1960s changed from the Sit-Ins movement because it let colored people have their right to sit and eat. Back in the 1960s black people were not aloud to sit and eat only the white people could eat their food. This all started the Sit-Ins movement. Sit-Ins supporters would go and sit at counters for lunch even though black people were suppose to stand in another area. This movement also got many committees to start. One committee was the "Student Nonviolence Coordinating Committee" or the "SNCC" for short. This movement got blacks and a few white people together to fight for black rights so that they can sit and eat. Sit-Ins created an active civil rights organization and was also involved with the civil rights campaigns of the decade.

Current Issues that involve the event/topic:
Sit-Ins is still a very popular protest today. There are many cases of them happening in the United States and around the world. One example of a sit-in now a days is in New York City 2009 at the Aetna health insurance company. People sat out side Aetnas offices and protested to end abuse of health insurance. This is only one of many protest that happen today. The Sit-ins that happened in the 1960s started a new movement that is still occurring and is a big thing today.
